Trading and Legacy

Why did you remove trading in the new version of ptcgo and why remove all legacy items? I spent a lot of money on packs for trading to get legacy cards to play the game anytime without having to change for standard. Now everything I spent the money on is gone. Why remove trading from a trading card game? Is it about greed or do you just not care about the fanbase? Please let me know why you made such a poor decision on switching the platform.

    I feel you somewhat answered your own question.

    If you cannot play Extended, you will be forced to play (and most importantly, buy) standard cards or not play at all.

    If you can trade, you have a source of cards beyond buying packs.

    You do not own your digital purchases: cards, games, DLC... none of it. When these companies decide to shut down their servers or licenses run out, you lose everything.

    You already agreed to these terms when you clicked 'Accept' on the ToS.

    Either view digital purchases as an extended rental and come to terms with the fact that you do not own them, or do not purchase them in the first place.

    I do not like it and I think these policies should change. But that is the reality.

    I always buy physical when I can, but even then, you sometimes just get a download code in a case.

    We desperately need to reevaluate and rework a lot of the laws that have become outdated with new technology.

    But that won't happen as long as the 'just click "Accept" and play the game' attitude remains prevalent.

    @TheJeffers Trading wouldn't give you ownership of anything. You'll still lose your collection when the game shuts down. Do you feel that you owned the HGSS cards on PTCGO?

    If you want to own anything, you have to stick to physical products. Adding trading and allowing people to rip each other off doesn't suddenly change that.

    @TechHog Exactly my point.

    My comments on trading were unrelated to the concept of digital ownership. It is simply another function that has been taken away.

    The only thing trading would give you is an alternative method of collecting cards and disposing of unwanted ones. As it stands, you can only acquire cards through purchase or playing the app. It is another restriction to force you into one economy and ecosystem, and stop external factors from influencing the price of cards.
