Hot Take

Fairy should've never been reconsolidated into Psychic in the TCG, since Fairy provided some unique strategies. They should make Fairy its own Type again

    This site doesn't use hashtags.

But I did like the aesthetics of the fairy cards, if nothing else. I didn't play with them enough during their existence to judge the gameplay, however.

On a design and production front, I am sure having an extra type complicated design and balance, meant they had to make a lot more support in a short span of time to compensate for the lack of historical support every other type had and meant including extra little things like Fairy energy cards in kits to facilitate it.

They probably decided it wasn't worth the bother.

Yeesh, am I that out of touch with Pokemon Cards that I didn't know this?! It's sad, nonetheless, but it may be a necesarry evil. Real shame for Pokemon like Whimsicott, who don't fit the Psychic sheek much.

Yea, I do miss fairy type, and one thing I really liked about it was how it kept dragon types in check by giving them a weakness. Now pokemon like Duraludon VMAX and the upcoming Dragapult ex will be able to run rampant.

At this rate make fire part of water

    Steel part of psychic

    Dragon part of grass

    Electric part of normal

How bout we just make 3 types they all go into fire water or grass wait let’s all make them stellar type instead

This is an overexadration don’t take it seriously I was pretty upset when they took the fairy type away

I think the consolidation makes sense since both Psychic and Fairy both have "magical" elements to them.

But I will say I don't really know why they decided to eliminate the type.

fairy is not the only type that is "merged"

    bug is in grass

    ghost is in psychic/dark

    ground is in fighting

    flying is in colorless

    ice is in water

poison is in psychic/dark/grass (they really could not make up their mind)

    rock is in fighting

fairy became a new type in the x-y era. they added it to tcg at roughly the same time. a little bit after gardivior gx (a fairy deck) won worlds in 2017 fairy mysteriously disappeared from tcg, and no one really knows the reason why…

possibly because they did not feal the need to add a whole other type along with trainer cards and energy, also there are not really that many fairy Pokémon compared to other types (mostly because it is newer). Personally, I think it is fine, except they need to make dragon weak to either dragon or water.

@emcees Yes, I would like to see dragon weak to itself.

I dunno if that's how it was, cause dragon also was not a type from the start, right?

I remember psychic used to be weak to itself.
