professor research stops game

So i was playing expanded and discarding a lot of my deck to get energies in the discard, i had no more cards in the deck but used research to discard my hand to pretty much win the game with electrode gx, but when i did so, the game just froze, after a while of doing nothing, my turn just ended, and the research was still up, pretty much soft locking the game.
