A ZACIAN LIKE NERF.
So here's my thoughts about the zacian like nerf for mewtwo x and y.
Since they can mega evolve, let's us discuss how they mega evolve.
Mega evolution needs mega stones right? But why is mewtwo x and y doesn't need any? Their ability is supposed to be something not for mega evolving, right? but other abilities suitable for them, what if they use a slot for mewtwo's held item for mega stones. Just like zacian right? Since their abilities are enhanced when mega evolved, why not use that as a nerf for them. Mega stones just balances mewtwos and they could still be in the meta in this season.

What do you mean by that? Is it because mewtwo somehow garners players? Due to their power level with low skill ceiling?

Something like that, Mewtwo provides an ego boost for low skill players, same for point and click intellien. To mess with that, when you consider how many people paid £/$20+ for early access and holoware etc twice (X and y forms). Timi would have to issue refunds since they would of taken the core foundation of two licenses and had to re design it's item compatibility and passive ability.
It's a good idea having Mewtwo need to hold a stone for his evolution, but then they'd have to completely redesign an already (in the Devs eyes) functioning Pokémon twice, but that'd open the flood gate for any of the eeveelution players.
People would argue leafeon, glaceon, etc would need to do the same and have eevee as a playable character on its own with the option of selecting which form you want via an item.

So if they keep mewtwo xy then the player base will somehow stay or grow?
But then again if they just adjust it a libble bit, we all could have fun again.
Coz some games ain't that fun anymore because of mewtwo, they're too good for the bad and their dangerous in the hands of the good.
But, if ever the devs wants to move meetwo xy in as an exclusive game saver, I hope it'snot on ranked.
Like rayquaza and zapdos, we compete of defeating mewtwo xy and make mewtwo ult enemy pokemon

Basically they're gonna ignore doing anything with Mewtwo until player levels drop to a drastic low level, Mewtwo keeps low skilled players interested and willing to spend money as they think they're good players- it was the same thing with zacian, meta breaking Pokémon attract low skill players to spend money.
That's all it comes down to eventually is money, do something that's going to get people to spend money on meta breaking licenses and pointless holoware, (why do you think it's nothing but rubbish cosmetic junk with battle passes?)

Still wouldn't make a difference, the fact is Mewtwo y is broken and here to stay broke
