This essentially becomes a question of which Pokémon game is your favourite. Because most people think their favourite is the best one, and therefore the best representation of the entire series.

Unless someone takes the stance of choosing the game by some other criteria, such as influence on the series, breadth of features, historical significance, or anything other than their own preference.

Personally I would choose my favourite, Black & White. I think it is the peak of the 2D games (and Pokémon in general for that matter), I think it is the best Pokémon story, and its regional Pokédex uniquely detaches it from other regions in a way that makes it a good sand-alone game.

BW2 are a messy choice as a sequel to a game that would now no longer exist.

In a way you're correct. My criteria was which Pokemon is my favorite and which game has it? Sun has it and I like Sun more than Ultra Sun because Lusamine was a better antagonist. I could have chosen Let's GO Eevee, either Gen 8 game(I think it wasn't exclusive although I have to double check that), Arceus and Scarlet but it was locked to the DLC on Scarlet so unfortunately that was eliminated. Not a huge fan of Sinnoh so Arceus is eliminated and then that leaves Sword/Shield and I just don't care for either so by default it's Sun.

    Re: OP

This is already occuring. In March 2027 deletion.... Then again, they are already changing the game.…

Y'all know what I'm talking about and yes, besides TCG & TCGP, it, UNITE, has had the biggest impact on me. (Wish there was more time to have more Pokemon join in)

I feel ya and here me out on this. Instead of a MOBA, I think an MMORPG would be what I'd strive to replace Unite with. Take for instance this video. I've referenced it before but basically, if I were designing a Pokemon RPG, you'd likely have to design it around your character being a Pokemon. As such, as your character levels up, you will eventually learn new moves/abilities and evolve(if applicable), which is basically like Unite but rather than having to do that match after match in a MOBA, your progress is saved unless you delete or start over from scratch with a new character.

So in a way think of it as World of Warcraft/Star Wars The Old Republic/any MMORPG you can think of(Diablo 2 falls into that category) but it's with Pokémon. Closest thing Pokemon came to something like this was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon but that would limit you to 2-4 players on any given quest. MMO's can have groups far larger than that(Diablo 2 permits up to 8, other games even more).

What's more is that an MMO could encompass all the regions we've traveled through as Pokemon Trainers or Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, etc so that'd mean the pool of Pokémon we could play as would be much much higher.

Speaking of Diablo, I haven't played since they dropped the Warlock expansion. Took an old game and destroyed it in the name of greed but that's Microsoft for ya.
