Poison not counting as a KO?

Hi! I'm currently running a Slowking V deck, and have the starter quest of KOing an opponents pokemon.
However, despite KOing several, the quest still isn't completed. Is it because I KO using poison? Seems silly that it shouldn't count :s

You have to hit with damage poisons sadly is an "effect" and therefore doesn't count towards KO quests.

You have to KO using an attack directly. Status conditions don't count count as you KOing the Pokemon.
