Oh, oops, no nothing wrong with it, Maleficent is a sleeping beauty movie told from the point of the supposed villain. It's actually really good in my opinion (yeah, had to wipe a few tears away at one point) It's been a while since I saw it but I think the rating is PG.

I like your idea a lot, I think it would make for an interesting spinoff game. It got me thinking about the villains in Team Rainbow Rocket in Ultra Sun/Moon, how they’re all from alternate universes where they succeeded in their plans. I think a game set in one of those would be really cool, imagine fighting back against a villain team that’s fulfilled their plans and conquered the whole world. Sonic Forces had a similar setup and it got an E10+ rating so I think it could be something possible to have in an E rated game.

I also enjoy saving the world (though if possible I enjoy saving specific people more than just 'the world' for narrative purposes)

You can actually see what the Pokémon games are going for in a lot of them…
I was recently replaying UltraMoon, and the theme was so obvious it felt like a slap in the face (literally I facepalmed) that I hadn't understood it before!!! That made me look back at the other Pokémon games and look at their themes, and honestly they're really there!2
