Forums Fantasy: Chapter 4
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
My consciousness slowly returns, my ears ringing loudly and vision completely blurred. I struggle to take a deep breath as I lift up my head. All I see is black and shadows as I look around with half-opened eyes. My arms and legs feel tight, and as I go to stretch I realize why. I'm completely tied up from my shoulders to toes. Panic immediately fills me and I start thrashing violently, desperately trying to break the bonds. The squealing in my ear finally quiets down enough for me to hear some feint muttering. I force my breathing to slow down and lower the sound enough for me to listen.
"-don't know what they want," one of the voices whisper. The voice sounds familiar… I think I remember someone named Zero? Yeah, him. He put us to sleep and apparently kidnapped us!
"But they were following us," another snaps back quietly. I think that's the guy that crashed into me…
"Yes, but what if they wanted to help," Zero questions. I didn't think he would be on our side. "I mean, if they wanted to they could have ratted us out to the guards, supporting that you ran by. But they didn't."
"But that might be because they wanted to personally catch me and turn me in, probably hoping for Hades' praise," the other growls.
"I promise you that's wrong," I holler into the emptiness. Suddenly I get hit by something next to me. "AH!!! What the heck!?"
"You idiot," Chris hisses at me. I can't see him in the darkness but it at least sounds like he's alright. He's just mad. "You just don't know how to keep your mouth shut!"
I'm about to respond but a long creeeeeeeak screeches through the room. There's a small red light that doesn't illuminate much but let's me see the face of our captors. Zero is looking down at us with a mix of caution and interest, holding the lantern closer for a better view. The buff brunette looks furious, glaring at us with suspicion. I give them what I hope looks like a friendly smile.
"Explain yourself," the white haired man commands, his voice low and leaving zero (ah, unintentional pun!) room for arguments.
"And make it quick," the other adds impatiently.
"R-Right," I stutter nervously, the way they're staring at me making me uncomfortable. "So, like, we were just stopping through town for some food for our journey because we're, like, trying to leave the kingdom because we're tired of being controlled, you know? Well, actually, I'm tired of the control. Chris is just here to be here."
My friend sighs with disappointment, obviously irritated. But what did he want me to do? Lie to them? Ignore them? I'm saving our butts here! He should be thankful! Anyways, the two are still glaring at me but Zero's eyes seem softer.
"You promise you're not lying," the magician asks, which the guy my age scoffs at.
"Even if he says yes he could be lying," the buff brunette states, still suspicious of us.
"Yeah, relying on someone's word is pretty stupid and is practically you asking to get betrayed," Chris chimes in. I look in his direction with pure disbelief.
"WHY ARE YOU HELPING THEM NOT TRUST US!?" I exclaim. Who's side is my friend on? Because it's clearly not mine.
"If they trust us over a promise then they trust already and was just wanting something that is barely a reason to give them a feeling of comfort," my so-called friend responds, still making the situation worse. I look back at our captors to see them just as shocked as we are.
"Go ahead and them go," the buff one states. "I don't know about the green guy but I trust that one."
Zero nods and releases an Aegislash from a PokeBall. "Sacred Sword," he commands. I don't even have time to panic as the Royal Sword Pokémon swings its blade at me. I clench my eyes shut and begin to scream, expecting to be in massive pain. But that hurt never comes. Slowly I stop and look down.
All it did was cut my bindings off. "O-Oh…" I mutter, feeling a bit embarrassed by my reaction. "Thanks…"
I feel myself get pulled to my feel. I look up to see Chris to be the one lifting me. He's looking down on me with pure annoyance. I stand properly and brush myself off, giving my friend a small smile.
"So…" Zero says slowly, looking at me with curiosity. "You're against Hades, you say?"
"That's right," I confirm with a nod. The man smiles softly.
"Would you possibly be interested in joining our organization that stands against him," he asks, his eyes hopeful in a yes.
"O-Oh, um…" I didn't expect a question like that, catching me off guard. I look at the boy my age to see he's still giving me a glare, but it feels a bit less hostile now. I look over at Chris and find him a watching me with a trusting expression. This is all up to me. "Why don't you tell me more about this group as you give us back our Pokémon," I finally reply, hoping I sound professional.
"That sounds good," Zero says with a smile. He then turns around, walking out the door into the darkness, the other guy following him closely. I look back at Chris for reassurance and he gives a small nod. With a deep breath I follow the small red dot that's already disappearing in the black.
