HOW DO YOU SAY IT?!
I say Fay-links…. Is this wrong? Or correct..1 -
oh boy, time to dig up some of my own cringe!
when i was but a wee lad, playing through pokemon mystery dungeon, rtdx, i decided that i wanted to be unique. and what better way to be unique than to mispronounce Gengar? so, little me decided to pronounce the first “g” in Gengar with a “j” sound. like jenga. that game with the wooden block things.
around about this time, i also liked to monologue to myself like i was a youtuber talking to an audience.
“oh my gawd why would jenga do that guysss???” -baby me, probably1 -

are you sure? Im pretty sure phalanx is pronounced fay-links as well..

With regards to the word "phalanx", the common British English pronunciation is fah-lanx where the American is fey-lanx.
This probably informs the variation in the Pokémon's name.
