I hold that feeling with the Eevolutions. Just feels wrong to have a male Sylveon you know? Every other Eevolution I can make the case for Male and Female but on Sylveon, I just can't see anything but Female for that one. Color Pink and the fact that every Trainer with one in the Anime has been Female(further cementing the female bias since Serena's Eevee was female. Why else did Chespin try so hard).

I agree with @TheJeffers, sometimes less is more... giant threads get to a point where people just give up on reading or even opening them.
It ends up excluding members who might want to participate but won't bother reading through tons of pages... on the other hand, more focused threads open the door for more people to join in. That's why I find polls engaging, the topic is usually more contained, but there's still room for discussion and any member can easily participate just by reading the OP.
Doesn't mean everything has to be a poll… another good example are the mod threads, they are usually focused, simple and easy to follow or participate in.
Another type of content that's missing is more technical threads. For example, in the TCG talking about how "deck X had a Y performance at event Z" and sharing opinions on it, or how "deck X is rising in the current meta and how are you countering it", this would be useful and engaging for new and existing members... and applies to other games too.
