Spiritomb ability bug vs Genesect V

I was playing with Spiritomb on the bench and his ability did not affect my opponent's Genesect V, he could use his ability and continue drawing cards

    Read your opponent's cards. Fusion Strike Energy protects the Pokémon it's attached to from the effects of Abilities. That's why they attached the energies to them but aren't attacking with them.
