If you're spending money on PTCGL you're doing something wrong. Any codes I've used for the game have been from packs I bought because I wanted the cards IRL. Never have I bought anything to get code cards for Live. You don't need to spend any money on real cards to get anything in this game, and many people that play Live don't own any physical cards. What you said makes no sense.

I've had some things happen that have made me start to think the shuffle algorithm is flawed as well… If I have only 2 copies of a card in my deck, both copies appear in my opening hand enough times to be noticeable. Boss's Orders in particular, both copies being in my opening hand 5 games in a row during one session. But it also seems to sometimes get hard stuck on a specific pokemon and begin to give me that pokemon along with at least one set cards that I only have 2 copies of, and no energy. Last time it was Bulbasaur. I pulled Bulbasaur in a hand like I just described 4 times in a row the other night… I tried to save a video of it but I didn't have it set to background record for long enough so only have 3 on the video… I feel like a fool complaining, but it happens so often and with the same cards that I can't ignore it.

No I've had this happen too

    It's actually happening again

I've noticed that the game gives me a good run with a deck for a day or two before starting a repetitive cycle of the same opening hand of pretty useless cards

Then they either give me everything I need except one or two things but my opponent have everything or just give me nothing while my opponent gets everything

    Sigh

I've just learned to expect it
