Why can't you play expanded format with friends in TCG Live?
My friend and I want to play expanded format together, but we can't. Why is this? It can't be very difficult to implement. It's a feature we'd love to see in the future. There are so many decks we'd like to play against each other that are simply off limits due to this limitation.

We are waiting for that "feature" since the day this game was released, but they never directly explained why not allow it, nor when they really expect it to be available (if ever)...
So I believe that limitation it's not a priority form them unfortunately, because like you said it doesn't seem to be that hard to implement.

Was wondering the same thing... it sucks having to try and queue randomly at the same time. After coming back to Pokémon it was already sad to see that my decks were gone with the rebranding, and now I can't even play old strategies with my friends because the only mode for friends is Standard.

Please add an Expanded option to Friend Challenges

I second that! Please add the expanded format option to Friend challenges. Who wants to keep scooping a matchup when you are trying to get matched up with your friend!

It feels like this always should have been in the game. We don't even need full expanded; most of the currently implemented cards have been playable against friends during previous years, so what's the hold-up with re-enabling them for an expanded format? It's not really adding anything new even. Add that to the fact that some of the trainer trials are similarly unplayable vs friends for the same reason (although the devs have basically shown they don't care about the quality of those anymore), and you have a truly ridiculous situation.
