I don't want to be mean, but this thread genuinely makes me wonder what some people even get out of these games. Why are you even playing? Do you read the dialogue? The characters tell you what to do.

When I played Red in primary school the mainstream internet was in its infancy, and I could only access it through dial-up, which required that no one else use the landline phones in the house while I used the family computer. And I was lucky to have that. Many of my school friends didn't have a PC in their house.

We didn't have YouTube tutorials. We didn't have AI assistants to ask. Your options were buy the paper strategy guide or call the Nintendo tip line and ask the human being on the other end while paying an exorbitant per-minute fee.

So do you know what 9 year old me did when I got stuck? I figured it out myself. I spoke to the characters, looked at the town map, and explored until I found the path forwards.

And I completed it. All by myself. Without all the quality of life features and help that FRLG gives you.

It genuinely feels like people don't even enjoy playing games these days. They are trying to rush to the end credits and check the game off the list.

"Thank goodness that's over. Now I can check another game off my list of things to fill the time."

I can understand why people feel the games need exp. share these days. Why they use repels to skip every battle and try to avoid trainers, then complain about grind at the end.

What I think they are missing is that getting lost and having to do a lot of extra battling and encounters isn't a fail state. It is not the game wasting your time. That is the adventure. That is the fun.

So I ask again? Why do you play these games? Because it sounds like the game itself is an inconvenience to you.

You need a change in perspective. The game isn't trying to trick you or waste your time. It's a children's game, the map isn't very big and characters give you obvious hints or outright tell you where to go next.

So the next time you get stuck, I recommend resisting the urge to beg for help on a forum. Don't look up a guide, ask an AI or trade for a Pokémon with cut.

Treat it as an opportunity for adventure. Be resourceful. Who can you talk to in game who might help you? What do you have in your bag? Were you given an item that might give you a hint or you haven't found a use for yet? Is there an area of the map you can access but haven't explored?

Again, I don't want to be mean. I want to encourage you to be more curious about the games you play and find the tools to solve problems yourself. Best of luck.

Seems like a bit much considering it was just a simple question on missing Cut. Might've missed some dialogue. Maybe just didn't quite understand. As far as I can tell they weren't complaining. They just missed something, and now want a little help.

Honestly, yeah I agree with you. Genuinely what's the point of playing a game if you aren't going to actually pay attention to it. The whole point of playing a game is for enjoyment, and having to search up every single thing kind of ruins that.

What? If you enjoy not paying attention to it, then why are you even doing it in the first place?

    (Sorry if this sounds mean).
