Smash Bros story part five!
FLOWEY
No point in keeping this girl alive.
It was weird. In under three hours, the supposed ‘Seedrian’ had both grown strangely attached to him. He guessed it was aftereffects of her supposed death- blasted by her friend, at her command, in a wild attempt to destroy a creature called Dark Oak. The whole story seemed like nonsense to Flowey, but a near-death experience like that would explain her mood and the way she acted- confirming everything as real and desperate for him to act friendly. She was asleep now. Flowey had kept her alive, wondering if maybe she knew something about the strange world they were in, but she knew as little as him.
There wasn’t really any point in keeping Cosmo around. Even without his human ability to SAVE, he still retained his monster ability to create attack pellets. He summoned a cluster of his pellets and sent them at her, intending it to be quick.
Instead, his pellets didn’t move. Like something was blocking him. He tried again, but something was stopping him still. He tried a thorn-covered vine to the same effect. He could move them wherever he wanted, unless it would cause her injury in any way.
He felt a presence weighing in his mind. Something else was stopping him. She wasn’t protected in some way. He physically couldn’t bring her harm. He dug in his mind. Someone else was in there. Not literally, but a mental effect.
After a second, he figured it out. The mind-controller was Cosmo. She had some kind of power over him. But he could tell she wasn’t doing it purposefully. Subconsciously, she must have been so desperate for him to be her friend, and it triggered some ability.
Meaning he couldn’t hurt her. Couldn’t lay a petal on her if it meant bringing her harm.
This world was stripping him of everything.
RAYMAN
“Who’s Sonic?” He placed a hand on Tails’ shoulder, trying to calm him down, but he shook it off. “My best friend! I need to find him! I have to go!”
“Oh, no. You can’t go out there right now! You’re still injured!”
“I feel fine! Please, I need to find him!”
Rayman sighed. “Look, let me show you what I mean.”
He walked over to a window, boarded with a metal covering. Tails followed cautiously. Rayman opened the metal covering, and a monster pounded on the other side. It had a cubic body and head overall, and had green skin, dark green hair, hollow sockets where it should’ve had cubic eyes, and a torn up blue shirt. The second the blocky zombie spotted the two living creatures, it began pounding on the glass, moaning and trying to bite the glass. Rayman quickly slammed the metal covering shut. “There’s more than one of him. In fact, a small army chased me in here. Not to mention there were others. Skeletal ones, this weird thing with a sad face that was a walking bush Kamikaze warrior, and one thing that kinda looked like a blocky, purple-eyed slenderman.”
“Oh…” Tails backed up, despite the zombie gone from view, and the pounding having stopped. “W-what are they?”
“Your guess is good as mine. I thought they might be from your world.”
“No, my world doesn’t have a lot of monsters. Except… I guess things like Chaos.”
Rayman sighed. “My world is basically post-apocalypse, but in the stupidest way possible. It was invaded by Rabbids.”
“Rabbids?”
“Little white rabbit-like fools who like potty humor and break logic in ways even I can’t.”
Tails couldn’t help but snort. “Quite the apocalypse.”
Rayman laughed. “Yeah, yeah, make fun all you want. I bet you these monsters would go away in the daytime, but wherever we are its always night. Or at least, always dark.”
“So… how are we going to find Sonic?”
“I don’t know. Is he tough as you?”
“Way tougher! He’s fought Dr. Eggman for years!”
“Then maybe he’ll find his way to us, instead.”
MIDNA
Midna whipped around in all directions. What in the heck was this place? Ruins? Everything was ruined, so yeah, probably ruins. It looked like it was once much nicer, but now…
Midna floated through the destroyed place. She just had to find some ally. She was an imp AGAIN. At least this wasn’t the first time. She’d just find someone. Surely she wasn’t alone.
A blast of fire flying at her face answered that question. Midna simply moved out of the way, making sure not to show any fear. “Nice try. Show yourself.”
“Where’s your Driver?” A soft female voice came. It was hard to pinpoint. Midna guessed she was throwing her voice. Pretty sneaky, actually. But what was she talking about?
“…My what?”
“You aren’t human.”
“Wow, perceptive. Did the hair, glowing runes, or floating around give it away?” She moved to where she was pretty sure the voice was coming from, slowly.
“But you’re not a Blade?”
What in the world was this girl talking about? A blade wouldn’t be talking! “Ok, did you hit your head on a rock, because what you’re saying is a load of bull to me.” She finally pinned the voice to a pileup of destroyed ruins. It was definitely coming from in there. Inside glowed a little fire, like she had a torch. “Okay, I’ll dig you out,” Midna sighed. Her hair whipped into a hand and grabbed boulder after boulder, tossing them away- occasionally pulverizing them, just to make a point. When she cleared everything, there was a girl there. She wore all red and had red hair, but glowing green spots. Overall her outfit was exaggerated in Midna’s opinion, but she supposed she couldn’t really talk. Her eyes were soft and kind but looking like they were on the verge of tears. There was a metal scrap stuck in her side, and it looked painful.
“Never mind. I don’t care what you are, if you’ll just help me.”
PAPYRUS
Papyrus’ brother was totally useless. He told him to scout the new land. He found that he’d built a hammock. He told him to go find food. He came back having eaten it all.
“SANS!” Papyrus called after his brother. “WHERE HAVE YOU GOTTEN OFF TO THIS TIME?! ARE YOU DOING SOMETHING HELPFUL?!”
“yup. you’re gonna love this. follow my voice.”
Papyrus followed through the caverns toward Sans’ echoing voice. Eventually he found him, and… Papyrus gasped in shock. His jaw clattered to the floor (he quickly picked it back up). “SANS! AM I REALLY SEEING THIS?!”
“i know. that ‘stache, bro. it’s huge!”
“YES! THAT ‘STACHE TAKES UP 90% OF ITS FACE- WAIT. NO. I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE ‘STACHE! IT IS A HUMAN THAT WEARS THE ‘STACHE!”
“so it is. hello, green giant ‘stache human.”
The green giant ‘stache human cowered in fear. Papyrus felt very accomplished. “YES, HUMAN! COWER BEFORE THE GREAT PAPYRU-”
“Mamma mia!”
“DO NOT INTERRUPT ME BY MAKING STRANGE HUMAN NOISES!”
SHULK
What even just happened.
The Monado was supposed to be such an incredible artifact. It could see the future, destroy the Mechon.
And that… pink thing just ate it.
The pink thing burped a little, then let out a cheeful little noise. “Poyo!”
“I need that back,” Shulk told it. It jumped and turned toward him. Wait. It had changed. Now it had symbols of Shulk’s Arts on it, and its right round hand had become the Monado. It pointed its little Monado at him. “Poyo poyo!”
“What in the world are you?”
“Poyopo!” It pointed to its stomach, then rubbed it, then its massive mouth.
A long moment passed.
Then the pink ball activated one of Shulk’s Arts, making its shoes glow green, and it bounced away, with Shulk right behind, trying to keep up with this pink puffball that could just eat the most powerful sword he knew.
(Sorry to any Xenoblade 1 fans if I messed something up with Shulk, never played it!!!)
