The leafgreen experience

FRLG are based on Red/Blue, aka a carbon copy with a few additions, notably an expanded post-game. In Yellow, Kangaskahn is replaced with Persian, and notably has Double Team which can prove annoying if you don’t take it down fast. Yet because LG is based on Blue, he gets Kangaskahn. Besides… no notable trainer outside of Giovanni uses that Normal type in the game. Tauros gets used but not Kangaskahn. Porygon doesn’t see use, ditto the Fossils outside of Aerodactyl with Lance. Because the Fossils aren’t around as opponents and there are no Water/Ground types in Kanto, there’s really no reason to have a Grass type on your team(not saying Bulbasaur is bad but it’s the truth). Better off rolling with an Electric type to deal with Water types instead. For Rock types, have a strong Water type like Blastoise or a good Fighting type that can brute force their Defense. I’d normally recommend Gyarados but it’s not that great in Gens 2 and 3.
