Who was the best villain in terms of how they were written?

”They are exactly the people he claims he would like to eliminate.” No. This is the mistake I feel is made about Lysandre most consistently.
Lysandre wants less greed and fighting over things in the world. People fight over things when there is not enough for everyone. Because he has no way to increase the number of things in the world, he resorts to reducing the number of people. Until there are so few people that there is enough for everyone. No more fighting because there will be no greed because THERE IS NO NEED TO BE GREEDY.
Lysandre is not targeting the elimination of greedy people. He is trying to eliminate greed itself.
Lysandre is misguided, but for a moment, imagine a world where no one fought, there was no need to be greedy, and everyone lived in grand wealth. That seems a pretty nice world. That was Lysandre goal. To start anew and make a beautiful new world.
My point with how he never gives up is that he doesn’t just give up. Giovanni? Just gave it up to come back another day. Shauna and Serena/Calem are telling him, ‘we won, this isn’t the only way to make a better world’, but he refuses to listen, pressing the button. This is hubris. This is believing you can do anything. And it buried him alive. (which is why when L appeared in ZA I was actually really annoyed, because it was better ending with him gone).
he seems bored with his own plan? A few different reasons. One, he’s burying his emotions. Imagine if he was an emotional guy and fired a doomsday weapon. To prevent guilt, he prevented all emotions. Two, he does not fully like his own plan. It involves the elimination of all Pokemon and so many people. But he’s resigned, he sees it as the only way to make a beautiful world.
And now that you mention it he does kinda look like Ganondorf…1 -
It has been a while since I played XY, perhaps that is what he said. I guess one of us could look up the transcript...
But that is entirely counterintuitive. However warped his logic and worldview may be, surely even he would think that the type of people who would join a plot to kill everyone just to keep everything for themselves would be the most selfish people. He would deliberately be killing the most selfless people to give it to the most selfish, and actively works with them to achieve his goals.
Again, I haven't looked at the XY script in any language for a couple of years minimum. He could have said that.
But if what you say is true, then you have convinced me that XY and Lysandre are even worse than I thought, not better.
Honesty though I am inclined to believe you are trying to make excuses for the bad writing. Not maliciously, but because you like the game and feel compelled to defend it.
