Ah. I forgot about the anime being a factor thanks to it being more popular than the games. In other words, that would mean TPC's immense and obvious bias is the main reason Charizard is liked! That explains why such a basic Pokémon has such a large fanbase. It can't get fans without TPC forcing it into people's faces.
Also, Delphox is a mage-witch psychic bipedal fennec fox. What is there not to love? I think it's an incredibly memorable concept pulled off well. It's just that TPC is heavily biased towards Greninja to the point of treating the other two starters like random Pokédex filler, when they have far more interesting concepts than it and have cooler designs.

Okay, but Greninja is at least cool
A ninja frogs with blades of water
Silent, stealthy, deadly
Even without the animr it's cool due to design
Yours is literally just a walking dog that relies on a twig to deal decent damage
Maybe they didn't give it attention because it's not worthy of it
It's ugly and useless
There's a reason Braixen is more popular
It's at least cute!
