Yeah, Gyarados is hard one to fight but I used one on my playthrough and man, they are a beast in PvP too. The hard thing is they don’t really counter their own kind well because if you mess up the timing a bounce can hurt.

Yeah I haven't gotten to that point yet so spoiler much? Speaking of Mega Starmie, I strongly considered using that for my Water type if I hadn't rolled Totodile as my starter. A source I use for looking up base stats has it getting a 140 base stat boost too so that's kind of OP if its correct.

Gyarados has always been a force since its Gen 1 days but if you had an Electric type or an Electric coverage move, they drop in no time. Ditto Freeze Dry for your Ice Types and the latter is particularly deadly against Water/Ground as well(which is WHY I used Alolan Vulpix on Scarlet/Violet in lieu of a Grass and Electric Type). It's Mega though trades Flying for Dark and that's unfortunate for Gyarados because it walks right into Fairy territory. As for Skarmory, it's basically first one to strike with Brigid(Delphox) and I usually win because Brigid's speed is surprisingly strong.

I may need to optimize their Natures at some point. Many have neutral or non-advantageous ones that if changed could be helpful. Also need to look into their IV's and where I may optimize them as well since every little boost counts.

So I managed to finish the game tonight to have the credits roll. The final opponent seemed rather fitting but I had to wait all this time to face Taunie with a full team and for her to Mega Evolve the starter that beats yours, hence all this time to unleash Achlys on her with x4 Poison only for me to not even need to Mega Evolve to beat her(because I was super over-leveled and I dont care). Yet the outcome was meaningless because Taunie rushes off and does something reckless(again).

As for the Lumiose City end-game, it definitely gave XYZ Anime vibes with the whole Avengers thing. Yet in the final Mega Evolution rumble, I nearly threw out multiple expletives since they just had to put Mega Alakazam and Mega Metagross together alongside Mega Aerodactyl. Was pretty much a no-go zone for Maleficent or my anti-Psychic counter since two of them crush Ice.

They also didn't answer the question involving Taunie and who she is searching for. I'm sure the Epilogue/Post-Game will answer it but my suspicion is that she's related to the Quasartico President. Due to the amount of time Taunie spent with her and the fact she recognized Taunie's jacket says to me that she's a blood relative(like Grandmother and a bad one at that to not keep in touch with family). Either that or she knew Taunie's Mother and may end up delegating control of the company to her as a reward for reaching Rank A(and would give her the funds needed to keep Hotel Z going). Feel free to tell me if I'm right(or in the ballpark) because I don't plan on playing it much, if at all, going forward now that the credits have rolled. AZ has finally passed away so I guess he wasn't so immortal after all.

Overall, Z-A was alright. The map could have been way better if they bothered showcasing LADDER LOCATIONS alongside the Elevator ones. Would make climbing way easier. Taunie was very naive, which again, not to go off on a tangent but she reminds me so much of a pink-haired character from a French animated series. Both are selfless but incredibly naive at the same time. Naveen was ultimately the level-headed balance the group needed. Lida was more of a group leader than Taunie was given she led the Strategy sessions(being the strongest doesn't always make you a good leader) but she evolved her Staryu way too late. Kind of coincidental that she evolves it at the same time you face its Mega. As for the other characters, my reactions from earlier still stand but Jacinthe is a borderline Psychopath. That woman could have someone killed and she'd probably get away with it and not care in the slightest that she did it.

My team finished around level 91-92 range, which again, as I said, was overkill but I don't care. Overall, I give Z-A a 7 out of 10 and the end-game felt better than Scarlet/Violet's version to be frank. Oh, I'll add that Plus moves were basically a band-aid solution to Pokémon that can't Mega Evolve.

Now to focus on other games such as a 2nd run through Echoes of Wisdom to see if I can do it w/o dying.

Took the liberty to do some post-game content on Z-A and I've pretty much done everything but finish the Infinite Royale quest and w/e happens to be after it. Caught Xerneas and Yvetal but I don't know how long I have to go on the Infinite Royal. I've done 8 Reward Matches so far and it seems they're all based on the notable Trainers we faced along the way. Got a feeling Taunie will be one of the last ones I face and I'm sure Lysandre will challenge me too since Zygarde is the last legendary left. I might purposely grind up Clefable just for that encounter since its Mega is pretty much immune to it(Trainer not so much).

Speaking of Pokedex, all I have left are Trade Evolutions with the hardest catch arguably being Skarmory. Got Gengar, Machamp and Alakazam(aka the original Trade Evo's) along with Steelix, Scizor, Slowking, Aromatisse and Slurpuff as Item Trades that are all set to go. If anyone wants to do a Link Trade at some point, lmk. Literally no rush or obligation on this. Just figure the sooner I get this over with, the sooner I can move on since I dislike having unfinished business as they say. I'm almost positive I'm right about Taunie though. Something tells me deep down that she's related to Jett the Quasartico President but I won't know for sure until the game says so.

Also got a ton of Mega Shards to farm. Got so many Mega Stones to buy that I'll have to spend several hours just doing nothing but farming shards. Should finish the post-game sometime soon though. Also, for those who have the DLC, give me an honest review of it and whether it justifies the $30 price tag. I'm inclined to wait until its on sale, if I get it at all.

If you want you can get Zygarde now. This is a spoiler free first step to begin the quest.

    Enter the hotel.

Even though it is only three words and spoiler free I put it as a spoiler if you want to find it yourself (It could take a long time to find it yourself).

Yeah I figured that out when I went back there after Round 11 in the Infinite Royal. Lysandre wasn't much trouble and Gyarados would be harder if he hadn't Mega Evolved it(Dark typing = Fairy lunch). I'll go catch Zygarde in due time. I just want to finish this Infinite Royal quest, which should come to an end eventually, else why have it at 39 with Zygarde and other missions after it. Been grinding Clefable up with a Lucky Egg and so far so good. She's level 73(from 13) after about 3 nights of Battles. Having a level 3 Red Plush does help though and with respect to Plushes, only have level 2 and 3 Gold left to get(just have to find those Screws eventually). I spent $1kk on clothing and what not because I have nothing better to spend it on(at least right now). I should look into leveling up a Dark Type though given Mewtwo is an extra catch I havent done yet(might use the Master Ball on that one).

Outside of finishing these last few missions, all I have left are 8 Trade Evolutions on the Dex.

It's not worth the price if you're not a shiny hunter or a big fan of a returning Pokémon or really want to use a new Mega. It genuinely feels like they just took the post-game they designed and made it a DLC. Imagine your average post-game story (Emma's in XY is a good comparison in size, though the DLC has a worse story) with PLA's mass outbreak free DLC update. That's it. And I guess they added a new Pokédex and new Megas, but it doesn't feel that way for some reason.
