I was never told exactly why, but I'd guess it has to do with moving, you may remember that from a different post. My family doesn't have multiple houses that we're moving back and forth between, we're just staying in homes hosted by other people, a few months each. Needing to pack up everything and get on a plane every few months makes it hard to have many physical possessions.
