when i fought Kieran, I used my team of 6 shinies i got throughout the dlc, all around his level.
Incineroar, Venusaur, Metagross, Rayquaza, Hydrapple, I don't remember the last one, but it might've been Primarina.
i found him challenging because of that.
the reason he ain't winning is because gamefreak hates him.

Technically Red loses against Gold and other trainers when he is present in the games, but other than the beefed up plot armored protagonists he would win against everyone, including Cynthia.
