Random encounters always sucked but were tolerable… except in caves. I don't remember the windmill part I remember my Platinum run more than my Brilliant Diamond run.

If I had to rank them from worst to best, it'd be the following. Disclaimer: This is based purely on opinion and not actual game experience given I haven't played them at all due to having no Switch… :P

Last Place: Let's GO Pikachu/Eevee. At the time, it was a complete and utter cash grab(PokeBall Plus anyone?) meant to boost Pokemon GO, hence why the game has the Pokémon GO catch mechanism and CP values. Meaning you could have a level 5 Pokémon but if it has a super high CP due to candies and what not, it could destroy a much higher leveled Pokémon for that reason alone. While I do like Let's GO Eevee in being able to experience Eevee as a starter(because Green(aka Blue) steals Eevee from you in Yellow version), the fact you CANNOT evolve it despite it being the EVOLUTION Pokémon just rubbed me the wrong way. They did compensate by buffing the base stats of your starter but that only made the early-game with it insanely easy because a Normal type with STAB Headbutt that you get from defeating Brock is just… how do I say it… beat game easily mode. The rival is utter trash too because it's not Green(Blue) but Trace and their ace is really Pidgeot(who Mega Evolves) and falls to an Electric type with one click of Thunderbolt. The Gym Leaders aren't much of a challenge either and despite the opportunity to have a larger Pokedex to account for the larger Type chart, including the possibility of having Johto in the Post-Game, they did the band-aid option of throwing in Alolan variants(because the Kanto Dex literally has ZERO Dark types…). A nostalgia trip for sure but really a bad game overall and this is coming from a proud Yellow owner.

BDSP: This game could have been soooo much better had they simply incorporated three things. 1) Utilized Platinum, not Diamond&Pearl as the base game. Seriously, Platinum was sooo much better but they had to have version differences so shrugs. 2) Eevee earlier. Why do I have to wait until the post-game for this popular Pokémon. Might as well make the Mossy Rock and Icy Rock completely and utterly pointless and where's SYLVEON. 3) Regional variants. You could have had Alolan and Galar Pokémon in the Undeground to use and you could have utilized Alolan Ice types via Icy Rock but nooooo… can't do that apparently. The only reason I didn't put this last is because the Elite Four and Cynthia are simply great. The sharp rise in levels will catch most people off-guard and the competitive teams will give even veterans issues.

Scarlett/Violet: I'm planning on getting this but let's be real… the story of this game really sucked. Time Paradox? Really? What is this… Back to the Future without a Deloreon? Exploration is really bland with nothing to gain other than items and trainers in really bizarre locations. While you can do Gym Leaders, Titans and Team Star in any order you desire, their levels do not scale so you can be way over your head by being 10+ levels below the competition or steamrolling by being 10+ levels above. I suppose another upside is not trolling us with the Everstone Haunter Trade. Nemona and Arven are decent characters and the OST is surprisingly solid, although I do dislike that Pokémon has adopted the DLC formula. Teal Mask and Indigo Disk put a lot of Pokémon behind a paywall and that's something that needs to be addressed by us the fanbase by boycotting their releases until they get the message.

Sword&Shield: Gym Battles in large stadiums was a risky move and yet it paid off as I see it. While I'm not a personal fan of Hop, he's certainly better than Hau and fills the role of rival quite well. Wish they had fleshed out Sonia more and a part of me wishes she was the antagonist and not Rose. Would be such a change that it would be noteworthy. Team Skull, as bad as they were in Sun/Moon, were better than Team Yell in SW/SH. Marnie was alright but she doesn't pose much of a challenge with Morpeko. Even Bede is not really a rival if you got a good Bug or Ghost type.

Legends Z-A: Just came out so I should reserve judgment here until I play it myself. That said, I've been reading good things about it so far. I just hope the DLC doesn't become yet another paywall.

Legends Arceus: Experimentation on Battle mechanics has to start somewhere and while I'm not a fan of it, it's not a deal breaker for me. The story here was much better than the re-hash of D/P that BDSP was and Volo… shudders.

If I had the Anime influence my game rankings, Sword&Shield would battle BDSP and Let's GO for last place(seriously) while SV would get bumped since I have to admit, the Gen 9 Anime is doing really well so far. English dub finished Season 2 awhile ago(late September) but I have to wait until January before it becomes available on Netflix here in the USA(UK already has first 11 Episodes as of a month ago) and will likely get the 2nd batch sometime in January or February at this rate. Season 3 has them eventually enroll at Blueberry so that means Kieran should finally make an appearance alongside BB E4. As to when that will air on English dub, I have no idea but given how long it takes it to make its way to Netflix, easily looking at April or May at this point. I do hope they continue with these protagonists if they can though. I just feel like there's more for them to do and it feels incomplete when they don't even have full teams yet. If there was one knock I have for XY Anime it's that they let Serena finish with just 3 Pokémon. Liko currently has 3 but acquires her 4th in Season 3 if memory serves.

Anyways… yeah that's all the Switch Games.
