It's hard to choose because I love at least one from every region except Johto

I'd say my top would be Charizard, though, with it being my favorite Pokémon

Favorite starter is all to personal taste. From an aesthetic standpoint, that honor would go to Snivy or Serperior. I just like its design but it's a real grind and tough to raise given how rough Unova is towards Grass types(face three Gym's that deal x2 to Grass(Flying, Ice/Poison and Bug) with Dragon as another Gym opponent that resists Grass. Not even counting Elesa's Emolga or the fact that Clay's Ace takes x1 from Grass… From a usefulness standpoint, I'd probably go Mudkip or Swampert. The fact this guy can solo the game speaks volumes and Water/Ground is a pretty strong type combination despite its x4 Grass weakness.

Honorable mention to Popplio or Primarina. Water/Fairy is really good too.
