People quitting games in PTCGL when losing

I had to quit two games because I think people are either cheating or something is up

One guy played a professor's research and didn't have to discard his hand while another had a gardevoir EX in play while I had neutralization zone active…yet his gardevoir was able to attack and deal damage

Am I going crazy? Does the game actually hate me this much? What is going on?
