People quitting games in PTCGL when losing

I don't know if I'm posting this in the right section…anyway, I've been playing on PTCGL for a little more than a year and a half, and I need to ask the community one question. At the start I thought it was a connectivity issue, since we don't have super fast internet in my area, then I started having a suspicion and now I'm basically certain: most of the times I'm ahead in games, people quit the game instead of conceding. I say this because it never happened once when I was the one losing and I'm basically wondering why and how…it feels rude and it makes me waste minutes playing against nobody just to not lose a win, which I can use to climb the ladder. I've seen it happen to a couple streamers as well and I really wonder why people do this. Do they just disconnect? I don't get it.

    I doubt they disconnect.

I don't like when people concede. I like to just let the game end.

But if you're going to quit, please have the decency to go ahead and concede.

Don't make me sit there, starting at a screen, waiting for you to make a move.

Now if it's random and their interactive and suddenly stops, I know it's not intentional.

I have plenty of disconnects under my belt, so it does happen.

But most of the time they're just a quitter

I just played a game against a Chien-Pao player who took multiple turns without doing anything, which seems strange to me since the app usually cuts the game short if a player is inactive too long. Still, I don't understand what's the advantage over conceding… do they close the app and it doesn't register as a loss to them?

I encountered my share of such players as well. They are just sore losers.

Their deck just isn't going their way and they are just scooping because if their deck doesn't operate perfectly its better to not waste everyone's time! BUT, yes sometimes they scoop just because they are salty as well… HAHA

I personally hate the players who spam the confused emote when you are trying to come up with a strategy on your own turn… That's just rude.

I know that the game freezes on me alot an i will be well into a match an i have no choice but to close the app. I assume this happens to other players as well. When we are in a match an they just stop doing anything. I can see if you are winning an this happens, might think the player closed the app out of fustration. I know it has happen to me before, knocking out their main attackers an then they never move a new pokemon into the active an it sits there idle.

There are occasional times when my game acts up in such a way where I can’t even press the concede button. Those sort of glitches probably account for a small chunk of the waiting around you have to do. But the issue of people quitting the game rather than conceding isn’t limited to PTCGL. It happens a ridiculous amount of the time in PTCGP, and you know when it is likely happening due to the text that appears on screen. It happens much less in ranked battles but it’s still quite common.

That's happened alot with me lately, too! I just wish people would just accept losing. If they want to win, practice more! Or maybe it actually is my internet....

My question is, assuming their pc didn't glitch (it happens to me but it's very very rare that I can't do anything at all, like three or four times in almost two years of use), how do they do it, and what's the advantage over simply conceding, which I'd consider way more time efficient than closing and restarting the app. To me it's just dumb.

to those that I have battled and suddenly I quit, I apologize but more often then not…it's my internet. I have two connections on my computer and at times, both will suddenly just disconnect

Please do not take my quitting personally, but the internet I have is the best I can get and unfortunately…it still sucks lol

if it sounds like I'm making excuses, I am not…I am not the kind of person to just close the game or whatnot to be petty. Besides, it still counts as a loss if a player quits like that, I'd rather concede if I know I'm about to lose so I can find a new match

Though I must admit, there are times where I am close to losing but so is my opponent…those games are worth sticking around for because it literally comes down to both players praying and hoping for a miracle

there are times I wish there was an option to chat with my opponent outside of discord so I can get their thoughts on the match we just had
