Deck Ideas from JTG & WHT

Hello! My partner is looking to build a new deck, but is trying to minimize having to buy single cards as much as possible. He's working on master sets for Journey Together and White Flare, so ideally, the core of the deck would come from those sets.

Does anyone have any interesting synergies or combos within these two sets?

So I based the deck off of energy loss and gather

    Pokémon:

    WHT;

    2 Oshawott

    2 Dewott

    2 Samurott

    1 Reshiram ex

    JTG;

    1 N's Zorua

    1 N's Zoroark

    2 Torchic

    2 Combusken

    2 Blaziken

    1 Bagon

    1 Shelgon

    1 Salamence

    1 Wailmer

    1 Wailord

    1 Reshiram ex

So the Trainers are very scattered. I did make sure to incorporate these two expansions, but it's mostly a mix.

    Trainers:

    2 Hilda WHT

    1 Brock's Scouting JTG

    1 Iris's Fighting Spirit JTG

    2 Dawn PFL

    2 Lillie's Determination MEG

    2 Crispin

    2 Ultra Ball

    2 Professor Research

    2 Air Balloon

    2 Buddy-Buddy Poffin

    2 Rare Candy

    2 Exp Share

    1 Jacq

    2 Powerglass

All the energies are basic, so it doesn't matter.

    Energies:

    7 Water

    7 Fire

    So here's the strategy.

Ultra Ball and Professor's Research discard cards, specifically energies, to use later

It'll also give benefits, which would be needed Pokémon and 7 cards

I would also advise Earthen Vessel to discard an energy in return for two

Also, Super Rod would be good to collect any Pokémon you may have to discard

I just didn't have room for them

Now then, N's Zoroark discards a card from your hand in return for drawing two

This gets more energies out along with more cards as its benefit

Salamence ex discards two energies from the Pokémon but does massive damage in return

Both Reshirams require you to discard an energy attached to it for pretty good damage, especially the WHT in late game

You'll be thankful for the loss of energies once Blaziken ex and Samurott are in play

Samurott does more damage for each energy attached to it and Blaziken allows you to attach an energy from your discard pile to one of your Pokémon

This sets Samurott up perfectly, especially with the Powerglass, which at the end of each turn allows you to attach an energy card from your discard pile to the Pokémon in the active spot it is attached to

Air Balloon is there to handle the high energy retreat cost Pokémon

Wailord can also benefit from this

Its attack does more damage for each water energy attached to it

Exp Share allows you to move an energy from your active Pokémon to the card it is attached to when knocked out

Crispin let's you search your deck for two different energies and attach one to one of your Pokémon and one in your hand

Lillie is there to refresh your hand but may be harder to obtain due to being new

Dawn and Jacq gets you needed evolutions, but Dawn is only obtainable through the Mega Gengar ex deck (which I'm not sure is out in real life yet)

I'll stop explaining there because I think I'm over explaining now

    Anyways, hope this helps!

@Hades0918 I tested it out, and can definitely see the potential! It's a fun deck to run once things are up and running! It's just a tad bit difficult to get set up against faster decks. I've toying around with different ace specs like Grand Tree and Precious Trolley to try to get the Stage 2s up and running faster, but even drawing those has been hard. I'm not giving up on this yet though! I'll let you know what I find works best for me.

I noticed that when I played it

I'd get the cards I needed as my opponents finished setting up and they won

I didn't realize just how slow it was until a went up against the popular quick decks

    I hope you can succeed!
