Why couldn’t I use item cards?
I was playing against a Spidops Stax deck and I could’ve had a chance of winning, except that I was wholly unable to play item cards. Is there a card that was preventing me from doing so that I just didn’t see? Or some rule I’m forgetting? I’m assuming it was a bug because it seems completely broken to prevent a player from using item cards. Stadium and Supporter cards were still working fine. The items I couldn’t use specifically were Pokemon catcher, dark patch, and switch cart. I had dark energy in my discard pile and my active pokemon was Roaring Moon ex, which is a basic pokemon as far as I’m aware.

Presumably your opponent attacked with Venomoth from 151/MEW and that stopped you from playing items

Unfortunately, I just experienced the same thing. I could not play any item cards, for multiple turns until the end of the game. While my opponent was able to do so. No abilities or affects that would have caused this, from what I could see. I didn't capture the battle log; is there a way to view the log later?
Did anything come of tickets that were already filed for this issue?
