Anybody want to explain to me why Rocky Chestplate works on Varoom?

Just finished testing my Meowscarada/Leafeon VSTAR deck on Live against the AI, and they were playing the Koriadon deck. The AI attached Rocky Chestplate to Varoom, and it was taking 30 less damage when it's not a fighting type.

Varoom has resistance to grass, I think. Could that have been it? Thirty reduction from the weakness instead of the chest plate?
