I haven't been playing TCGL for very long. Can someone explain to me what a theme match is?

They don't make theme decks anymore, so those are gone for good.

PTCGO (the previous app which I am legally required to mention was much better) has a mode where only theme decks were allowed. They haven't made any new theme decks since November 2020, however. They were replaced by Level 1 V/ex Battle Decks.
