Lumineon V and Professors Research

Turn 2, play Lumineon V to get a supporter. Selections populate, however I cannot select Professor's research. Will let me select all other supporters in my deck, but not professor's research. Not sure if it matters, however it was the 190/198 card. Very frustrating. Is this common?
