Switch cart

So i was playing a standard match against a darkrai player and i was trying to activate switch cart to change my active pokemon with one from the bench and i couldn't activate it. My opponent hadn't played any card that prevents the item usage.

was your pokemon a basic? switch cart only works if your active is a basic pokemon.

I can't remember tbh but it probably wasnt if it didn't work.
