Is it POSSIBLE for AI to be used as art?
Okay, wait, hear me out here
I ask this for a reason
Now you see a year ago I was taking Art Appreciation in college
Kay?
And part of it was tech/AI in art
Alright, I was skeptical, kay?
However they used this creation that's actually in a museum as an example
What it does is they use an AI algorithm that takes weather information from different parts of the world and programmed it to effect lights in certain ways
So as the weather changes the AI uses that info to change the lights, creating a changing pattern that constantly creates new designs, never being or staying the same for long
It was "Live Art" or something like that
At the time that I learned it I didn't really care but lately I've thought a lot about it
Does this count as art?
Not using AI to generate sucky images but to collect and wield information to create something unique
In all honesty I'm a bit split on this scenario because I genuinely don't like AI but at the same time this feels kinda creative
So what do you guys think?
(Sorry for being random and off topic)

I think the human soul— its experience, what it's learnt, its emotions and thoughts, everything that shapes a human, all of which shows in one's work— is too essential to art. Without it, it goes against what art is.

Isn't AI a tool that a human uses to create something? What makes that any different than say a hammer and a chisel? The medium may be different because AI only works in the digital space but if something helps you create something, then how is it AI created when the Human is the one giving it instructions and then editing or molding it to their liking?
I dk... Just feels like a big grey area if you ask me as opposed to black and white where something that isn't AI generated or assisted is lauded but the moment you use it, it's maligned as trash. Double standard if you frame things under the tool context, especially when AI uses existing Human creations as a foundation or reference. People have used existing things as inspiration and not batted an eyelash. Why is AI treated differently?
Then again that's just how I view things. We're all slaves to the AI system anyway and our judgement day with Skynet comes closer.

Yes (or other kind of media).

AI is meant to be a complementary tool for the professional, it is not supposed to do his job.
