I can't look them up in the Pokemon database. 😕 Except for some sort of mission in Z-A, a game I can't play since alas, no Switch or Switch2.

Maybe it's how I read his dialog, but to me he literally makes effort to seem bad but fails
And I'm talking about when you get into the 2v1 because Corbeau decided to help you with it
I can't remember all the details but he tries to look malicious
Again, though, seriously could just be how I read his words

He does have something against their group because they are basically taking his business, which is why he acts rude to Jett…
And to note, you definitely don't ACT pessimistic. There's a difference, and that's Corbeau- acting pessimistic. And when you act pessimistic, a tad rude, and do something someone doesn't like, its easy to get pinned as the villain in their eyes. And he doesn't care about being the bad guy in someone's story as long as he gets what he's owed.
He doesn't act cruel directly, he just doesn't care if he's the villain in someone else's view. I think he might actually say something like this in the game…
So ironically, most people fell under the same impression the characters did… that he was cruel. Which lead to 'he's trying to be mean and failing'.
Or you could take a slightly different way and say cruel is entirely up to perspective, but I'm not getting that philosophical right now.1 -
