Pokémon GO Idea: Bring Back the 8-Gym Badge Journey & Pokémon League! 🏅🏆

I’ve always thought Pokémon GO could capture more of the feeling of becoming a Pokémon Trainer from the main games and anime. My idea would be a new Pokémon GO Gym Challenge where Trainers have to earn 8 unique Gym Badges before qualifying for the Pokémon League Tournament.

The twist is that every Gym would have a different challenge. It wouldn’t just be about battling. One Gym might require you to walk a certain distance, another could require catching a certain number or type of Pokémon, another could focus on winning battles, completing Routes, exploring PokéStops, making Excellent Throws, or other GO activities.

🏅 Example 8-Gym Journey:

  1. Explorer Gym — Walk 10 km
  2. Catcher Gym — Catch 100 Pokémon
  3. Type Gym — Catch Pokémon of specific types
  4. Raid Gym — Complete Raid Battles
  5. Route Gym — Complete Routes
  6. Skill Gym — Make Great/Excellent Throws
  7. Battle Gym — Win Trainer Battles
  8. Champion Gym — Complete a combination of difficult challenges

Complete each challenge and you earn that Gym’s unique Badge.

🏆 Then comes the Pokémon League

Once you’ve collected all 8 badges, you qualify for a special Pokémon League Tournament.

This could be an in-game tournament where qualified Trainers battle through several rounds. It could happen once per season, with special encounters, cosmetics, a Pokémon League medal, and exclusive Champion rewards.

Pokémon GO already has Gym Badges for interacting with individual Gyms, and it has an established competitive system through GO Battle League.  My idea would bring those concepts together while recreating one of the most recognizable parts of a traditional Pokémon adventure:

Explore → Complete Gym Challenges → Earn 8 Badges → Enter the Pokémon League → Try to become Champion. 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 → 🏆
