Alakazam V Glitch

I have had an issue a couple of times where I have used Alakazam V’s move that allows you to attach three damage counters, but it won’t let me attach one of the counters. I attach the first two, but the third one won’t attach. Then, my time runs out, and it is attached to a random Pokémon.
