Is it me or is Pokemon trading irl kinda messed up?

I had a random thought on my mind, and of course, I was thinking about Pokemon.

But then I realized - the whole purpose of the Pokemon world is to become best friends with these magical creatures for life, so with that in mind, why do people just trade them away?!?! Like, how are the Pokemon not devastated when their trainer just drops them for the flashy new thing? Is that just me?

Trading was encouraged from the earliest days because social interaction breeds comraderie and commitment. That and Traded Pokemon grow 50% faster, which in the old days was a big deal since XP grinding was a royal pain. EV training was too... Try getting 65k EV in a stat. The amount of battles you'd have to do to get that is nothing short of crazy and the EV are based on base stats so if they have 100 base speed, that's 100 speed EV. So to get 65k at 100 EV each is 650 fights(which is why Diglett Cave is an awesome grind spot. Same with Pokemon Tower for Speed and Special).

I lost several shinies due to trade evos, but morally it isn’t that messed up, unless you have a deep bond with the Pokémon you trade away.

It also worries me when we kidnap the Pokemon, befriend them, then force them to fight. My advice is don't think about it too hard.
