Yes, and Z-A is the perfect model

I love real time based mechanics and I feel turn based rpg mechanics is just boring and takes like no real strategy and I feel if they change the combat it just wouldn’t feel like Pokèmon at all anymore

This is coming from a jrpg head, action rpgs change you.

Turn based Pokemon is fun at times but the grind is very much there in the older ones, in the newer ones its laughably easy but then you get to the champion who one shots your team like sephiroth one shots the under leveled team… then after hours of grinding you knock em out with your knights of the round table calibur sweep (referencing my first FFVII run where i one shot sephiroth with that summon). Turn based also feels very rng dependent at times, sometimes (and not always) relying on pure luck rather than proper skill. Also turn based combat can feel dated at times, feeling clunky and slow and very much dependent on levels than skill. Action rpgs on the other hand do help and bring more skill, sure Z-A was not the best example but it was a very impressive start and I do hope in the future rather than being from the trainers perspective it goes to the pokemon's perspective and becomes more hands on combat. It would be complicated to work out movesets for each pokemon but it would be something great.

Ok, I know a lot of people are gonna disagree with me on this, but hear me out.

One of the things I loved about PLZA is that it felt like the battles were actually happening where they started. You actually had to use obstacles, movements, and movement timings to dodge moves, as you would in real life. Some may argue that S/V had this mechanic to some extent, with the battles having the surroundings as background, but answer this - why are we having essentially 2D battles in a clearly 3D game? The answer is, in my opinion, it shouldn't.

However, people say Champions was made so people can continue to play the turn-based system, and I really like that. It's not the turn-based system itself I don't like, but the placing of it. I think that S/V and Sw/Sh would've been way better with ZA's real-time battle system. However, I do understand that the turn based system has a major competitive scene, one that I participate in myself, but again, this is why Pokemon Champions was created.

Now, you're probably wondering why I voted for the system to be different from Z-A. I kinda wish there was a middleground between the first two poll options because I think that the battling in Z-A was 80% there. I like that they kept the four moves and enjoyed how easy it was to maneuver. However, I think animations should be adjusted for certain Pokemon, like M-Heracross Bullet Seed or M-Mawile/M-Feraligatr Crunch.

But, here's my hot take on what they should do - in the beginning of the games, pokemon follow the trainers as in Z-A, but the Trainer's movements are acutally training an AI in each pokemon to move and dodge attacks as the player and when max bond is reached, the AI moves on its own, and cooldowns can be tweaked just a bit.

No, the series should stay turn-based

    Z-A's system was enjoyable, but…
There was a lot less strategy in it.
I would love to see a spinoff series in which the combat is real-time, especially if you were actually playing as the Pokemon, not the Trainer. It felt so weird in Mystery Dungeons DX (which was a pretty good game, not trying to insult it) when the other Pokemon would just… wait for you to move or do something. I think it would be fun to have a Pokémon game in which you play as the Pokémon themself and get to battle other Pokémon.

Thanks! Problem is, like you said, it's nearly impossible due to the sheer amount of data it would need.

Yes, I played the demo of that, and it was fun but you were still technically being a Trainer commanding the Pokemon

But you played as the Pokémon!

    You never used the trainer!
