Everything is pay to win
Nearly everything in pokemon UNITE that's a challenge you can just skip by paying and some things like the prize machine you can't do unless you pay or there's a event.

Treasure Chest Challenges (if you're going for the main item/holowear/avatar gear) and the throwing ball prize machines.... Yes, those you definitely have to pay for because the odds of winning are horrible. Also any battle passes for holowear/gear you can only earn after you buy one of the passes. Remember that the actual holowear and avatar gear DO NOT affect your actual game stats/game play.
However, there are free earnable, via missions, events like the nonpaid battle pass (other things are earned at a lower rate than the paid battle pass and no gear except trials is earnable), new Pokemon license events, regular license path journey, and right now anniversary cake item enhancer missions.
Yes, you buy a battle pass and you have the potential to earn more things like item enhancers, tickets, and license points which CAN have an impact on your win rate and how you actually play the game, but the holowear and avatar gear don't actually help anything besides to look cool or allow you to use holowear spray which in turn gives you a slight battle points earned after every battle. (Those battle points then accumulate to increase your overall level, upon earning a new level you do receive a reward, and also the battle points help you earn green/blue/gold ribbons for your individual Pokemon).
Do I like that the cool holowear in the Treasure Chests and throwing ball prize machine are basically unattainable for those of us who can't pay for them? No, I don't like it and now I skip throwing balls because there is no reason since the likelihood of actual earning 12- 40 pts off of those four free balls is practically impossible.

Its more farm to win, per holowear, its normal for company to make it for real money

The thread title is exaggerated... like what Dragon said, the paid content isn't that relevant besides cosmetics and get stuff a little faster... they have to make money.
