Vee and Tric are working together on the speech she is going to give for Snow's presentation, with Gwen chiming in with some suggestions. Vee wanted to write more of the recent history with them and have gotten most of that part of the speech in a decent state. Vee starts talking about Devil and his actions, and how he cared for Vee in the past and tried to keep her safe. Vee talks pretty vividly of Devil and how great he is, as some sort of rough guy with a caring soul.
'Man she really thinks the world of this Devil guy...' Tric thinks 'Does she have feelings for him?.. No, she's dating me... But would she drop me for him' Tric thinks with a troubled look 'Should I ask her about him?..'
Tric thinks for a moment while Vee is writing and she notices his expression "Hey Tric, what's the matter?"
"Nothing... Well I guess that's not true..." Tric says nervously "With Devil you seem to really like him..."
"Yeah he's been pretty nice to me so far" Vee says.
"Well... Do you like him more than me?" Tric asks quietly.
"No! Did I really make my speech sound like that!" Vee says, face red with embarrassment "I am so sorry if I gave you that idea, he's just been there for me in rough times. He's just a friend."
"It seems someone is jealous!" Gwen says teasingly.
"I mean... I am her boyfriend after all... I am supposed to have some concern after all..." Tric says nervously.
"Hey... Tric" Vee says "Don't worry, there is nothing between me and Devil. We are just friends... And if he doesn't want to understand that then I won't hang out with him anymore..."
"Thanks Vee..." Tric says with a smile and hugs Vee, and as he hugs her he remembers something important "Hey Vee... About the dance tomorrow... Would you want to go together?"
"Yeah, it will be fun to go to!" Vee says.
"That's awesome! Do you want me to pick you up?" Tric says.
"Sure" Vee says.
"Alright..." Tric says "Gwen do you need a ride?"
"Nah I already have a date, he's gonna pick me up" Gwen says romantically "My date Brock is such a cutie!"
"Does Aquaria also have a date?" Tric asks.
"Why, jealous you only got one late" Gwen teases Tric.
"NO!" Tric exclaims "I mean... I didn't think Vee would say no it's just with everything that has happened I only remembered about the dance yesterday because I was helping set some of it up"
"Well Aquaria doesn't have a date, she was even thinking about not going but after she heard that Charz was also coming she suddenly wanted to go" Gwen says "To be honest I also forgot about asking Charz about the dance, I asked him later and he seemed to lighten up about Aquaria coming."
"Huh, well do they need a ride?" Tric asks.
"No they both have rides" Gwen says "Hey Vee you still haven't talked to Charz yet right?"
"No..." Vee says.
"He wants to apologize to you" Gwen says sincerely "Would you be free during lunch to talk to him tomorrow."
"Well... Uh, sure" Vee stammers.
"Don't worry Vee... I can be with you" Tric says trying to comfort her.
"It's fine Tric, I need to do this on my own" Vee says.
"Ok..." Tric says understandingly.
...
The next day Tric heads to school to his first class. Tric has some funktastic tunes in his earbuds and is thinking to himself about the speeches each candidate for the Student Body will do. He knows that today each candidate is being given a spot during the weekly announcement to give their speeches. Last year it was pretty average, most of the candidates either just showed themselves off or gave a pretty boring speech. This year it should be pretty much the same, Tric thinks that Thur will probably show off the most and use his popularity to win. Then Tric remembers Vee's speech she is going to give, he wonders if it will be enough to discredit Thur and his popularity. In the years before the candidate that had the most showy presentation and that promised all sorts of things that could never be given won in the end. It didn't matter if the candidate couldn’t actually do any of it, the one who made up the most lies ended up winning. Usually as a result of them winning they often cut resources and student spending and don't give much in return. Tric wonders if Snow or Thur will actually make much of a difference, in all honestly the position really doesn't matter Principal Mewtwo always is the one who makes the final changes. In the past even when pretty terrible candidates have gotten into power the changes were pretty insignificant and all major changes were done exclusively by Principal Mewtwo. At least that's how it has been historically. Even then... Tric thinks that it would suck if Thur won.
Tric makes his way to the first class, it is Geology class with Mr. Hoothoot. The teacher starts off with morning announcements.
"Today will be a half class, at 8:30 we will head to the auditorium for the student council candidate speeches. Since today is a short class we won't make much progress on the material, we might as well do an activity and review some of the class concepts." Mr. Hoothoot says to the class.
The teacher opens up the projector and shows a cloud radar, it shows some pretty bad looking clouds heading to the school. Tric looks at the clouds and regrets not bringing an umbrella or raincoat today. Tric also sees a thunder and hail advisory on the website and wonders why the weather is so crazy today.
...
Time passes and the class has some fun with Mr. Hoothoot's activity and head to the auditorium. While walking to the auditorium Tric notices it has started to rain pretty hard outside and thunder has started. Tric enters the auditorium and looks for Gwen and Aquaria. He signals for Gwen and Aquaria to come sit with him as Mr. Hoothoot is a pretty relaxed teacher and won't make any problems with other students coming in his group. The two gals make their way to Tric and find a spot.
"Hey Tric" Both of them say to Tric but he doesn't really hear them over his music.
"Vee is supposed to give her speech after Thur's speech... I don't really want to hear what Thur has to say" Tric says.
"I don't blame you Tric, his speech is probably gonna be terrible" Aquaria says.
"Like why do we need to know again that he is a giant massive jerk!" Gwen says "Well like at least we miss class but still it's totally lame!"
"Agreed" Tric says as he lowers the music on his earbuds "But I would have rather missed another class than Mr. Hoothoot's class."
"Unlucky" Aquaria says "His classes are always fun."
"How can you even make learning fun!" Gwen says.
Before they can continue Principal Mewtwo starts talking on the mic.
"May I have everyone's attention" Principal Mewtwo says as the entire auditorium goes quiet "Thank you. Today we do not have many announcements, most of today's time will be dedicated to the speeches by each candidate for the positions in the student council. For today's announcements though there is a severe weather warning and we recommend staying inside during your breaks. If the weather worsens we will make an announcement through the intercom. For tonight's dance the weather forecast suggests that it should clear up by then but if the weather doesn't clear we will postpone the dance to this Saturday."
While the principal is continuing Tric sees Gwen calling over someone to sit next to Aquaria. Tric takes a closer look and sees Charz coming over, looking quite nervous making his way through the trigger happy profs ready to give detentions. Charz finds a seat and sits next to Aquaria, Gwen looks happy to see him but Aquaria looks very nervous and awkward. Charz looks like he wanted to say hi to Aquaria but then he also clammed up. Tric thinks that if he didn't know any better that they were both gonna ask each other to the dance but were too nervous to do so. Before Tric could think more of it Principal Mewtwo calls for everyone's attention.
"Now for the first speech for the position of Student President we will be hearing from Candidate Thur Townley." Princpial Mewtow says as he welcomes Thur on the stage. Princpial Mewtwo gives a quick chat to Thur and then makes his way to the side of the stage.
The Umbreon makes his way to the mic and starts his speech "Hello everyone! It is me, Thur! Today I am here to tell you about why you should vote for me! The first reason is that I will get the cafeteria to have an ice cream bar! The second reason is that I will expand the recreation room to have more video games and party games! Yes that's right, we will get PS5's, Xbox Series X's, Switch 2's! We will also make them put ping pong tables, foozball tables, and more awesome stuff! The third reason is that I will make the school build a new gym for working out! It will have lots of weights and lots of machines, it will be a great place for everyone to get built! We will also be trying to get more girls to get into working out to, uh... build motivation! Yes, you should vote for me so that we can make these awesome things happen!"
People start clapping and cheering for Thur. Tric wonders to himself how people can actually fall for that, it was all a complete lie! Tric sees Principal Mewtwo come back to the stage.
"Thank you for your speech Thur, now for the next candidate we will be hearing from the second candidate applying for student president. The candidate is Snow Faron." Princpal Mwetwo says as Thur leaves and Snow and Vee make their way up. Before Principal Mewtwo can say anything a teacher runs up to Mewtwo and says something to him, making the principal have a concerned look on his face. Principal Mewtwo goes back to the mic "It seems something important has come up, Vice Principal Genesect will take over while I attend some business. Until then please remain in the auditorium until further notice." Principal Mewtwo says as he gets ready to leave.
Principal Mewtwo leaves the stage and calls for a few other staff members to come, after some chatting they leave the auditorium in a rush. Tric doesn't really know what could have caused it, maybe it could have been the hail.
Vice Principal Genesect comes to the stage "Well, Snow the stage is yours."
The Hisuian Zoroark makes her way to the stage walking on a high horse and goes to the mic.
"Hello classmates, here are all the reasons you should vote for me as Student President instead of Thur." Show says with energy "The first... well Thur is just a big old meanie! He's a school bully and a plain old jerk! For years he has been bullying the students here and getting his way, he's basically the MVP of the entire school!" Snow leans into the mic and takes a look at the right, catching Vice Principal Genesect making his way to Snow. She signals to Dex to stall and he gives the Vice Principal a prank call, successfully doing so. "I have a special guest with me, someone who has seen what Thur has done first hand. Please welcome Vee to the stage!"
Vee makes her way to the stage and Tric wonders if she will be able to give her speech. She was in the groove with writing it but clammed up when trying to give the speech. Tric notices her walking slowly to the stage, walking as if she is trying to keep her breakfast in her stomach. Vee arrives at the mic and tries to pull out her cue cards from her pocket and drops them. Snow gives Vee an ugly stare as she watches Vee pick the fallen cue cards up, not even offering to help out. Tric sees Snow and thinks she is acting pretty mean to Vee considering the amount of courage Vee is showing up on the stage. Vee tries to compose herself and starts reading off the cue cards.
"H-hi... I am Vee..." Vee says quietly "Ever since I was a kid... Thur would bully me. He would always make fun of me for hanging out with Charz instead of with other girls and call me mean things... When we were kids he would mock me, hurt me... and it would continue on until Middle School... Charz was always there for me during Elementary School but during the years we were not in the same class Thur would-"
Vee cuts off, not sure if she wants to say what she has written down. Tric can see the pain in her face, and wonders if she will continue on.
Vee takes a pause for a moment, Tric never really knew much about her history before they met. Sometimes they would talk about Elementary School but Vee would get quiet around Third Grade when Thur came into the picture. Tric met Vee in Middle School, she was always more on her own as most of the students including himself came from a different Elementary School. Tric remembers the first time he met Vee...
Tric when he was younger generally didn't hang out with much people, he didn't get into many problems with others and generally stuck to himself. Most people and bullies didn't care much about Tric because he didn't make himself stick out as a target for a potential friend or victim, he just blended in with the background. One day during recess Tric was listening to some music on his SylphPod Nano when the battery died and the music cut out, while pulling out his earbuds he heard some noises coming from a more secluded area in the backyard. Tric decided to take a look and saw an Eevee crying and taking quietly to herself. Tric recognizes the Eevee, she was in his classes and was pretty reserved. Tric decided to approach her and heard some snippets of what she was saying. "I thought the new start would be better" Tric heard, "I hate this place" Tric barely caught as the small Eevee looked as she was about to start sobbing. Tric got closer until he was right next to her, this is the first time he has actually tried to talk to someone and he doesn't know what to say. The Eevee noticed Tric standing next to her.
"Y-yeah?" The Eevee asked with red eyes.
"I thought I heard some crying... A-are you ok?" Tric asked.
The Eevee didn't answer him, she just curled into a ball and continued to cry. Tric didn't really know what to say, talking to someone is one thing but supporting them... that's another thing entirely. Tric tried to muster up the courage to say something and took a bit of time.
After a moment Tric asked the Eevee "Do you mind if I sit next to you?"
The Eevee looked at Tric and didn't say anything, but looked as if she needed the company. Tric sat next to her, just saying nothing until recess ended. After that the Eevee seemed to feel a bit more comfortable and talked to Tric.
"T-thank you..." The Eevee said quietly.
"Not a problem... Hey what is your name?" Tric asked.
"It's Vee..." The Eevee said.
"Vee... Cute name!" Tric said trying to lighten her up.
Vee's face turns bright red "Thanks... I have to head to class now..."
"Are you heading to class 117?" Tric asked.
"How did you..." Vee says with a pause.
"We're in the same class... Want to sit next to each other?" Tric asked.
"Sure..." Vee answered nervously.
"Alright, let's go!" Tric said as they headed to class.
After that day the rest is history, Vee introduced Tric to her childhood friend Charz who went to the same elementary school as her and not much later on in middle school they met Gwen. Turns out Gwen also went to the same Elementary School as Vee until the 4th Grade, she even shared some classes with her at their old school. With Tric and Gwen Vee managed to feel more comfortable at school and seemed much happier. Tric never asked Vee in the past why she is in a different Middle School than Charz, now it makes more sense.
Tric snaps back to the present day and back to Vee's speech. Seeing how Vee is on the stage reminds him of how sad she was when he first met her. Vee looks around the stage and looks directly at Tric, when she sees him she puts a smile on her face and continues her speech.
"When I told my parents what happened to me because of Thur... They made me go to a different Middle School than he was going to... This was good and I ended up meeting some of the best friends I could find..." Vee says with a weak smile "But... ever since I came to High School seeing Thur again has been horrible. Him and his friends have hurt me so many time, and he has made one of my longest and closest friends do terrible things... And some of the people who got hurt because of him targeting me..." Vee breaks down into tears and cries inconsolably. Vee tries to compose herself and looks around the stage for someone, she looks for a moment but cannot find the person she is looking for.
Vee runs off the stage in tears and leave the auditorium. Tric tries to get up to follow her but gets a scolding look from a teacher.
Snow walks back on the stage, trying to fake a few tears for the looks "What a moving story, who would have known that Thur is such a monster! That is why you should vote for me and not Thur because a vote to me is one that isn't going to an absolute jerk!"
The crowd gives a giant applause for Snow, commending her for what Vee did. Tric is disgusted by what he saw, Snow doesn't care about Vee she cares about beating Thur and becoming the Student President. Tric realizes he should be with Vee and gets up and goes to find her. Gwen, Aquaria, and Charz see Tric leaving and decide to follow him.
The group check around the atrium and look for Vee. The school looks dark, none of the lights are on and the heavy rain adds a layer of gloominess. The sky paints the entire hallway into a blue and dark depression, making the group feel worried more for Vee. They decide to head to the front of the school, exploring the hallways as thunder breaks the silence of their footsteps. As the group get closer to the front they hear what could be sirens, possibly from an ambulance or police car. As the tenseful opera plays the group hurry towards the sounds, worried if they are here for Vee. As they get to the front entrance they see Vee collapsed at the window, looking down and crying. The group run to Vee in concern, trying to ask her what's up. Tric thinks back to earlier and looks at Vee, he thinks to right before she stormed out of the auditorium. Right before she stormed out she was looking for someone, Tric, Gwen, Aquaria, and Charz were all there so she wasn't looking for them... Tric thought of who she could have been looking for and makes a terrible realization. Tric looked outside and saw who Vee was looking for.
