i went through deleteing some of my stuff on my switch 2 becuase ive finaly after a year and something got to the max storgage. and i noticed that pokemon legends arceus (155MB) is less than the rytum heaven demo (626MB) 💀

i also noticed that pikmin 3 deleuxe is only 26.7MB 💀

on the switch when your in the manage software place it shows how much space you have with a white line and when your hovoring over a game it shows how much space deleteing the game with make with a blue line.

so pikmin 3 deluxe is so small that the blue line doesnt even pop up 💀 (might be becuase its a Wii U game)

Presumably this would be data, update and save files stored on the device, not the full game. I assume you are still using cartridges, because PLA is a lot bigger than that.

Different games have different file sizes, depending on the amount of assets the game requires and how well it was optimised.

Previously, with ever increasing power and dropping prices, optimisation seemed to be a lost art. Why bother optimising and saving processing power and space when you could count on your players buying ever bigger hard drives and beefier machines.

One potential positive of the tech shortages is that developers might have to prioritise optimisation again, because their customers cannot afford the machines needed to run or store bloated UE5 tech demos.

Tis why I am picky on what games I get. With respect to storage I have the following:

Z-A(no DLC): 11.3 GB ← Digital copy with Switch 2

    GBA(Nintendo Online): 511 MB

Lego Star Wars(all DLC too): 15.8 GB ← Digital copy

    N64(Nintendo online): 1.9 GB

TMNT(Shredders Revenge with DLC): 1.5 GB ← Digital

Echoes of Wisdom: 293 MB ← Physical

    NES(Nintendo Online): 147 MB

    Scarlet(w/ DLC): 5.1 GB ← Physical

Madden 26: 58 GB ← Physical and yet still bloated EA crap I bet.

Nintendo is going to cash in on Sony ending Physical media. All they got to do is not screw up and continue what Iwata preached and they'll gain market share the likes of which we've probably never seen.
