If Pokémon was real, how hard do you think it would be to defeat/catch a Legendary/Mythical?

It would be extremely hard. Nearly impossible!
If Pokemon existed, the body count for both trainers and Pokemon would be higher. I mean if you look at how dangerous rl wild animal encounters ar... or animal vs human attacks... Pokemon battles would be lethal.

Since the average Legendary or Mythical has abilities like control over time/space/life/death and creating droughts and floods and similar powers, I don't think it's possible unless they care about not killing you. They're basically gods and the majority of Pokémon just have the capabilities of a human with magic.

I doubt in real life I could just lob various Pokeballs and pray it works.

I don't think it would be any different than the game
BUT THERE'S A CATCH!!!
The player is flat-out overpowered in the games. This is also my argument for when people say 'haha Ash is such a bad trainer'. The player is overpowered. To really become powerful, Pokemon Training would have to be your profession!
So it would be the same as the games…
if you were one of the NPCs and not the player.1 -
It would be too easy
Honestly I could easily catch a Pseudo or Legendary Dragon, I would lay the dragon, not slay the dragon. 😏

unlike in the pokemon world we don’t even have the technology for a device that can alter the size and matter of a thing and saying that these will be living things we also don’t have something to deconstruct the matter structure of the creature and bring it back alive since that process seems highly dangerous in the first place also I think things that take free will from creatures would probably be seen as a war crime so I don’t even know if we would be able to catch regular Pokemon since the literally thing used to catch them is far to futuristic and probably would be disobeying some laws
