Winds and Waves Rumoured to Introduce 300 New Pokémon

This is just a rumour, so take it with a massive pinch of salt and all the usual caveats.

But hypothetically, if the game did introduce that many new Pokémon, what would you think about it?

Do you think it would be 300 all new Pokémon, similar to Black and White's all new regional dex, or do you think it would add in older Pokémon, maybe with new formes or evolutions as part of the 300, to pad out the numbers?

I doubt it that would be almost doubling the number from the original dex which is the second largest dex in the game after unova’s 154 I feel it would be more realistic of being a dex around the size of these two dexes

I hope obviously there’s old pokemon or else I’d miss my favourites, but I’m excited to see the new Pokemon! Especially the legendarys which will help me pick which game

Of the problems the Pokémon series has, a lack of Pokémon is not among them. Indeed, people are still upset that they refuse to include all the current ones in the games or in their dedicated online battle app. I don't think ballooning the dex another 300 Pokémon will help matters.

To be fair, a number of these could be evolutions, regional formes or some other gimmick to revitalise old Pokémon lines, which is not as big a proposition as 300 entirely new, distinct Pokémon. I prefer making older Pokémon lines useful to entirely replacing them with new ones.

If this rumour does prove true, my concern would be that Gamefreak have spent a considerable portion of the extra time they had on these games making dex-filler.

Virtually every other aspect of these games needs refinement, improvement and attention. We don't need a new regional bird, a new regional rat, a dozen new legendaries, etc.

I don't think they will have 300 new and distinct(as in no regional variant) Pokemon. Rather they might have 100-150 like always but have a ton of new regional variants.
