Issue with turns
In my match, my opponent and I both put out our initial Pokémon. When we go to do the first attack, they end up withdrawing their Pokémon and putting out a different one. This was problematic because the attack that I had selected was effective against their initial Pokémon but was not effective whatsoever against their second Pokémon. That’s BS in itself, but that is not the main issue. Aside from that, the opponent ended up mega evolving their second Pokémon, and then got to go AGAIN and attack me, abruptly OHKO me. So, my opponent got to take their turn, withdraw their pokemon and put another out, mega evolve that new pokemon, and attack without me getting to do anything at all.
Are you kidding me?

That's just how the game works. The issue isn't with the game but either with their team being a good counter for yours, or your strategy not being good enough.

it is not BS because you also have an equal opportunity to switch out or predict the opponent's next move to counter them, and you did get to do something on turn 1. if you were in your opponent's shoes in a bad leading matchup then you could do the same thing and switch out
it seems you are mainly a TCG poster so it's important to note that unlike the TCG you make decisions simultaneously in the main games and sometimes you can get outsped
