Making Pokémon Z-A a better game.
I think Pokémon Z-A could become MUCH more social, competitive, and replayable by improving the trading system and adding official community trade links inside the game.
Right now, many Pokémon that evolve through trading can be annoying to obtain if players do not have friends online at the same time. A built-in trade-code system would make evolution trades, shiny trading, and competitive team building much easier for everyone.
1. Evolution Trade CodesPokémon that evolve by trading are iconic, but sometimes difficult to evolve safely with random players.
A great feature would be official universal trade codes for mirror trades:
- Haunter ↔ Haunter
- Kadabra ↔ Kadabra
- Machoke ↔ Machoke
- Graveler ↔ Graveler
- Slowpoke + King’s Rock ↔ Slowpoke + King’s Rock
This would help players evolve Pokémon like:
- Gengar
- Alakazam
- Machamp
- Slowking
without fear of scams or losing their Pokémon.
Example trade codes:
- 0093 0093 = Haunter trades
- 0064 0064 = Kadabra trades
- 0067 0067 = Machoke trades
- 0075 0075 = Graveler trades
- 0079 0079 = Slowpoke trades
This system already works very well in other Pokémon games and should return officially.
2. General Trading CodesAnother good feature would be public trading rooms or universal codes where players can:
- complete the Pokédex
- help newer players
- exchange version exclusives
- trade rare Pokémon
Examples:
- Starter trading rooms
- Fossil Pokémon trading
- Version-exclusive trading
- Regional form trading
This would make the community feel more alive and connected.
3. Shiny Trading CodesShiny hunting is one of the biggest parts of modern Pokémon games.
A special shiny-trading code system could help players safely exchange legitimate shiny Pokémon with other collectors.
Example:
- 9999 9999 = shiny trading room
This would help:
- shiny collectors
- living dex players
- competitive shiny hunters
while making online interactions more exciting.
4. Competitive Pokémon Trade CodesCompetitive players often spend hours breeding or searching for:
- good IV Pokémon
- hidden abilities
- battle-ready Pokémon
- specific natures
Special competitive trading codes could help serious players connect faster.
Example competitive rooms:
- 1111 2222 = physical attackers
- 3333 4444 = special attackers
- 5555 6666 = support/tank Pokémon
This would make the competitive scene easier to enter for newer players.
5. Mable’s Research ImprovementsMable’s research system could become more rewarding by:
- giving better XP bonuses
- rewarding rare Poké Balls
- increasing shiny odds after research milestones
- unlocking rare Pokémon encounters
- rewarding cooperative online play
This would encourage exploration and long-term gameplay.
6. Faster Leveling OptionsSome players enjoy grinding, but others mainly want:
- competitive battles
- shiny hunting
- completing collections
Pokémon Z-A could add:
- optional XP boosters
- rematch trainers with scaling levels
- high-level training zones
- faster EV training methods
This would reduce repetitive grinding while keeping progression fun.
Final ThoughtsPokémon games are at their best when:
- collecting is exciting
- trading is safe
- online systems are active
- competitive play is accessible
- community interaction feels rewarding
Adding official trade-link systems, better research rewards, and faster progression could make Pokémon Z-A one of the most replayable Pokémon games ever made.

Umm there's no abilities in ZA...
But I do agree with the better trading. I lost 2 shiny Scythers I wanted to evolve to a bunch of randoms because the trading is so bad. However, eventually I managed to set up a trade with @Lonestar85 (seriously thanks for trading with me, it made my day) and evolve them into Scizor at last. However, if you don't have any nice people willing to help or any friends who play ZA, then trading can be a real problem.
