Issues with adding friends in friend list

Why am I not able to add anyone to my friendlist neither they can do. I've all my settings to default set.

Alternatively, you can visit support.pokemon.com, choose Pokémon UNITE from the list, and click "Contact Us" on the bottom of your screen. From there, you can submit a ticket. We appreciate your patience and understanding!

May I also ask if you've been able to add anyone at all in the past?
There is currently a cap (limit) on how many friends we are able to have. Only 200 trainers, once that's reached, we have to delete existing friends prior to friend requesting or accepting any more.
