Can we revive and update the retired games?
So, looking at games I wanted to play, there seems to be a severe lack of maintaining the playability of said games. (Especially the apps.)
For example, I had wanted to play Pokémon Duel awhile back, but didn't have space on my device, at the time, due to all the other games I was trying to keep up with. But, when I finally had viable space, the app was shut down.
Another example, is I just found out that Pokémon Playhouse isn't compatible with my current device. However, it is compatible with an older device. But if I use it on that device, it'll likely be rather laggy and slow, due to older devices giving out the second you upgrade (sometimes even before).
Now, I am aware that some of the older games for the systems are being revived on the Switch or Switch 2. However, half of the are getting locked behind Nintendo Switch Online, and some of those ones are exclusively on the Switch 2. Not everyone can afford to get Online, let alone a Switch 2 to upgrade to play games like Pokémon XD: Gale of Shadows. I feel if it's gonna be put on the Switch 2, it should be put directly on it through download or hard copy. And if it's going to be through Online, then it should be available for both systems.
Honestly, I was really excited to finally get my hands on Gale of Shadows, until I saw that it was exclusive to Online AND the Switch 2. I'm working on getting the system, but it's also another thing to point out that some people struggle just to get WiFi. Not everybody has a café or library close enough to use the free WiFi there—if it's free at all.
So, for some people, having half the games need WiFi in order to play it, is kind of a disadvantage. Especially, games that could easily be given an offline mode. (Which I feel Champions should/could have. Especially, facing NPCs, following story, and so-on. Yes, I get the online feature is kinda the point, but Pokémon Unite kinda has an offline mode, so why not the other games?)
Anyway. I'm sorry if this sounds like complaining. I just really look forward to the games, and genuinely want to play them. And, I'm certain I'm not the only one, who wants to see these changes. Life's hard and a struggle. Games are supposed to help us take a second away from it. And when we can't play it... It just makes it harder.
