Battle cage is broken

Why, when using battle cage against a froslass? It stops the damage counters from going on my pokemon, but not my opponent's. Honestly I wouldn't have mined if my opponent wasn't using monkey.

Battle cage says it prevents your Pokémon from getting damage counters from your opponent's moves and abilities. Nothing about stopping them from affecting their own mons.
