Cheryl removed energy from pokemon it didn't heal

I recently lost a game entirely because I used Cheryl to heal all of my evolution pokemon, but for some reason it removed all the energy from the 2 pokemon that had no damage on, stopping me from making the game winning attack. I had used Life Shaker Gengar to move all of the damage counters from my 2 attackers onto my support pokemon which had no energy on them, so I could Cheryl away all the damage but keep all my energy on the attackers, but it removed all the energy anyway after healing the damage from my other pokemon. Has anyone else had any similar issues with Cheryl, I have a feeling it's just a bug to do with the fact I had moved the damage away from those pokemon using Gengar.
