I managed to start playing Pokopia today

I discovered Bulbasaur and immediately decided, when the game just wants you to water probably ten squares or less, to do this.

I haven't even finished the intro yet. It took 6 Leppas and 2 Carrots to water everything. I still haven't checked what the reward I was supposed to take from Bulbasaur after watering a few blocks was (I will check after posting this). The only dry parts left are the ones the game isn't letting me water or go towards. I'm loving the game so far. Also, sorry for the bad photos, I'm not downloading the Nintendo app just for this when all it used to take was a QR code.

Nevermind, it's just how some things are stored in the game.

Spoiler warning for a very funny twist

It's like Animal Crossing and Minecraft fused together. It's really fun so far.

So, I had free time today and didn't have anything I had to do, so I decided to rest and play Pokopia. I played it all day and only took breaks to eat. I'm probably not going to be able to do that again anytime soon (and I'll probably try to stop myself next time. One entire day of doing nothing but resting is enough).

I made it rain and unlocked Rocky Ridge. I built multiple houses (which are much easier and simpler to build than huts because all you need is a door and enough blocks to build four walls, and zero waiting time. One of them was from a building kit, though. It could fit 4 Pokémon so I put the Kanto trio and a Goomy) and started building the Pokémon Center. I wanted to skip the hours it takes to build it by changing the date on my Switch (which I did for the big building kit), but decided not to and I don't regret it because I've spent a whole day playing this and just unlocked the first unique NPC other than Tangrowth (not really, I'm in the middle of the quest) and I can't even fully transform into anything other than a human yet (I can only use their moves). There is no such thing as a boring moment at this point of the game. This game is going to be long, but I've been enjoying it.

Also, while in Rocky Ridge, I somehow found the museum (and a use for all my feathers) by accident while digging through Volcanic Ash to see where it goes. I've obtained almost 400 pieces of Volcanic Ash and I keep them all in my inventory for when I need to build things. I also have around 300 pieces of barren soil in my storage boxes (one of which was in the museum because my inventory was getting full and I had to leave some things there to obtain and bring back cooler items. There's 260 pieces of barren soil I have easily accessible and an unknown amount I left behind in the museum).

Spoilers for the story so far below (it's on the absence of humans), don't look at them if you plan to buy the game at some point because I enjoyed discovering things on my own a lot. It's been a big part of the fun. No spoilers if you've beaten the game, please. Not even hinting at spoilers or whether I'm right or wrong, I'll see it for myself as I play the game.

At first, while playing, I'd wondered where the humans went. Why Pokémon just pop up magically with no knowledge or memory of how it happened, or even what happened. I had no answer. But then I saw pages and notes about bad changes in the environment and weather having a negative effect on Pokémon and people, and efforts to stop that (that may have been futile to humanity, but the result of this, the Poké Life app on the Pokémon Center PC, a result of those efforts, helps Ditto save other Pokémon and fix the environment). Did climate change wipe out humanity? Then what's happening to the Pokémon? Why do they appear so suddenly?

And then I went to the museum.

First, I saw a paper about a dangerous project far in development that some researchers wanted to cancel. Did this one project start the extinction of humanity? And still, what happened to the Pokémon?

And then I found Professor Tangrowth's trainer's (the Professor's) diary's fourth entry. All Pokémon will be put in a massive computer system while humanity takes refuge in... space?! And that it was the only way for humans and Pokémon to be able to reunite someday.

And after they're done, a group will be sent to survey the environment and do maintenance on the conservation system. The professor was invited but declined because they felt too old to be able to do it and that it was a job for the younger generation.

So from this, I started realising what happened. Pokémon were stored in the computer, with the condition of letting them out if the environment becomes livable again (likely with help from the Poké Life application). Humans tried to live in space, and either failed, or found that space would be even worse, and went extinct.

Why do I think they failed?

Because if they were still there, there'd be traces of the survey team and they'd be helping the Pokémon out. That's their job. Since they're not here, that means there's no one to send. Which implies there's no one to send them, since the survey team was a central part of humanity's plan.

I think the professor joined the survey team in the end, and during the final hours of humanity, let Tangela out in hopes that the Grass type could help save what's left of Earth and build safe environments for its Pokémon. It seems like a perfect fit for the job, as other entries noted its curiosity and eagerness to learn, its Grass typing could help it grow plants and trees and care for them, and its vines could help it build. Not only that, the professor seems attached to Tangela, from the first two entries which are the only others I've found (which was likely most of the reason). I think they saw hope in its abilities. This had to have happened after all Pokémon were stored and all humans, or at least other humans, went extinct, because Prof. Tangrowth says they've never seen a Pokémon or human in a long time and thought they all went extinct. As we can tell from Tangrowth's statement, their powers alone couldn't do anything. And then Ditto and Squirtle were let out, likely from the computer system malfunctioning due to no one having maintained it in many years (as we can guess from Prof. Tangrowth saying they haven't seen a human in years), and from there their powers helped the world grow and return to normal.

Also, I have one very small complaint. Pokémon are too friendly too fast. The second they appear they're calling me their bestie when I've done nothing yet or have ignored them almost completely. I don't want them to be mean or rude, but every single one treats me like we've been best friends for years one dialogue box after they meet me and it's weird and ruins the immersion. Some of them could be like that, but it's boring and I find it weird that every single Pokémon is like that. Can't there be levels of friendship at least? I can see why people like it and find it nice, but it's the one thing I've disliked so far.
