Blitzkrieg means lightning war or fast strikes with mechanized units(generally Half-Tracks, Self Propelled Artillery and Armor(Tanks)). You concentrate your forces in one area and use it to advance suddenly and quickly behind the enemy lines such that if the enemy doesn’t retreat that they can be encircled and destroyed. That’s what almost happened to the British Expeditionary force in Belgium. The Germans punched a hole in the Ardennes and raced across France because the French were using old WW1 tactics and had spread out their Armored units rather than concentrating them like the Germans. That meant that despite the French Tanks being as good or better, they were outnumbered and destroyed. Luftwaffe or Air Power did a number on the French to where they had Air Superiority. The Germans then pushed for the Atlantic coast and eventually the British were at the brink of annihilation at Dunkirk. If Hitler hadn’t paused the German Armored units because they had pushed far ahead of trailing Infantry units, the British army may have been destroyed. Instead they escaped to England in a massive Sea operation that utilized every naval vessel afloat in the English Channel.
Once the British left, France was basically a pushover because their Military was reliant on a static defense line that had already been bypassed in the Maginot line. Patton would later utilize Blitz tactics in the push from Normandy 4 years later.
Granted… if the French had attacked Germany in September of 1939, the War may have been over by Christmas since the German Army was in Poland(had virtually nothing defending in the West).
